After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve partial differential equations describing fluid mechanics and heat transfer with appropriate numerical methods. They understand the strengths, weaknesses and limits of applicability of these methods.
Introduction to possibilities and limits of numerical methods in fluid- and thermodynamics based on examples. Practice of self-reliant preparation, conversion and solution of fluid- and thermodynamic problems based on simple examples Practice of interpretation and judgment of the results.
Introduction to using MatLab, presentation of examples on blackboard, implementation of numerical methods in simple MatLab scripts, discussion based on examples
Solution of at least 50% of examples for home preparation, submission of a team project by groups of three students, written examination after the end of the course
