Aim of course

Understanding the fundamental processes of heat transfer, in particular due to convection and radiation; knowledge of the basic equations and of some basic solutions of heat transfer; becoming acquainted with the methods available for solving heat transfer problems, including estimating the orders of magnitude. Topics selected with respect to possible applications in engineering.

Subject of course

Introduction (problems of heat transfer); forced convection; natural convection; Phase transitions (solidification, condensation); radiative heat exchange between walls; fundamental equations of heat transfer (in moving and radiating fluids); methods of solution (survey).

Examination modalities

Anmerkung zum Termin am Montag: Die Vorlesung beginnt pünktlich um 11:15

Es werden drei schriftliche Tests zu je 60 Minuten Dauer abgehalten. Für jeden Test werden 15 Punkte vergeben. Jeder Test besteht aus Einzelfragen bzw. Beispielen in Form von  Fragenketten. Nachtests für jeden der drei Tests werden an einem Termin zu Begin des Sommersemesters angeboten.

Notenschlüssel: Die erzielten Punkte werden zusammengezählt,
Punkte = max(Test1, Nachtest 1) + max(Test2, Nachtest2) + max(Test3, Nachtest3).

Notengrenzen

  • S1: >= 88% (39,60 Punkte),
  • U2: >= 75% (33,75 Punkte), 
  • B3: >= 63% (28,35 Punkte),
  • G4: >= 50% (22,50 Punkte).
