322.037 Dynamics of real fluids
This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2011W, VU, 2.0h, 3.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Aim of course

Deepening and extension of the knowledge gained in the lecture fluid mechanics. Through the detailed discussion of flows where deviations from the ideal fluid behaviour are essential the student will acquire the ability to estimate importance of real fluid effects and learn methods for their treatment.

Subject of course

Introduction. Equations of state for real fluids, fundamental derivative. One-dimensional wave propagation processes. Flows with heat edition. Chemically reacting flows, combustion. High Reynolds number flows, flow separation. Fundamentals of hydrodynamic stability theory, transition from laminar to turbulent flow. Turbulence modeling.

Examination modalities
