Laboratory exercises for advanced training. Design/calculation/manufacture/testing of a 3D printed thin-walled plastic lightweight structure.
Working in groups of three to four students.
Application of the knowledge from LVA „317.542 VU Analytical Methods in Leightweight Design“ to design a thin-walled lightweight structure.
3D printing of the lightweight structure.
Introduction to measurement hardware and software; independent creation of the measurement report.
Testing of the lightweight structure and discussion of the failure modes with all LVA students.
Preparation of a multi-part written report.
Collaboration and written report on the design, manufacture, measurement and testing of the lightweight structure.
Knowledge in solid mechanics and Engineering Design (CAD).
