Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • apply the solution strategies for nonlinear FE-problems taught in the lecture to concrete problems
  • check if the obtained results are meaningful and if necessary to modify the solution strategy accordingly
  • document the solution procedure and the obtained results in form of a protocol

  • geometric nonlinearities
  • material nonlinearities
  • nonlinear stability

Teaching methods

  • hand-out of the examples at the beginning of the semester
  • students can focus on the specialization area of their choice
  • self-dependent treatment of the examples using a commercial FE-code
  • weekly question hour in which issues with the examples can be discussed
