Aim of course

Knowledge of various failure and damage concepts for component design; selection of
appropriate models with respect to load scenario and material; limit of applicability.
Knowlegde of constitutive material laws which descirbe the response beyond the elastic
limit and their three-axial formulation.

Subject of course

Review of continuum mechanics, interpretation of stress and strain tensor; strength
hypotheses for static loading; anistropy;viscoelasticity;design under cyclic loading
(fatigue); elasto-plasticity, damage, and failure mechanisms

Additional information

For the module "Leichtbau I & II' in the Master curriculum is this
VO the substitute for VO 317.350 Technische Plastizitätstheorie and
VO 317.034 Festigkeitsberechnung von Bauteilen, respectively.
