Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the basics of finite element methods in solid mechanics and apply their knowledge an simple examples in field of bone biomechanics.

 

Subject of course

Overview of FE in solid-state mechanics, explanation of the theoretical basics of the FE method, introduction to the application of these methods with special consideration of the problems of biomedical engineering (e.g. stress analysis in bones, prosthetics, etc.).

Teaching methods

Flipped classrom lecture: Videos in TUWEL are available for self-study, followed by live discussions (only in person) on the announced dates.

In addition, there are homework assignments related to the lecture which include computations and practical examples.

The entire course will be organized via TUWEL.
