After successful completion of the course, students are able to employ (nonlinear) continuum mechanics approaches to solve problems in the field of biomechanics. Specifically, students will be able to describe the mechanics of protein unfolding, bone (anisotropic elasticity) as well as ligaments and tendons (non-linear elasticity)
Calssical lecture
Provide a short report with solutions to given exercises
The exercises are given on a weekly basis and after the lecture on Tissue Biomechanics. In english.
The examintation modality is immanent. The students will be given one week in advance to prepare and solve a set of exercises. At the deadline, the students are required to have submitted their handouts as electronic form on TUWEL and their solutions will be marked. For a positive mark solutions from all sets of exercises must be submitted.
Good knowledge of vectorial algebra and analysis. Introduction to mechanics or biomechanics - concurrent attendance to the course Tissue Biomechanics 317.026 VO is recommended.
