Provide understanding and methodology for the mechanical analysis of motion, flow, stress, growth, remodeling and healing in living systems.
Biomechanical principles of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Motion, dynamics, equilibrium, energetics and constitutive behaviour. Musculoskeletal forces. Blood flow in heart, lung, arteries and veins. Respiratory gas flow. Infinitesimal tissue strains and stresses. Biomechanical aspects of growth, remodeling and healing.
There are two written exams, both of which have to be passed successfully for obtaining a positive grade. For students who missed one or both of the above exams or who want to improve their grade, a further exam will be offered at the beginning of the summer semester.
