Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • apply the lightweight engineering principle for sandwich design
  • select the proper materials for sandwich design 
  • peform analytical structural analysis of sandwich beams  
  • perform finite element analysis of sandwich structures and to evaluate the results  
  • apply proper joining techniques like thick-elastic adhesives  
  • select the proper method for manufacturing sandwich panels based on the application 
  • design sandwich structures and determine the costs
