Aim of course

Ability to describe and explain

-      the morphological and biomechanical properties of the passive tissues of the muskuloskeletal system.

-      the relationships between structure and function in the light of evolution, growth and remodeling.

-      The origin of non-linear mechanical behavior of of the passive tissues of the muskuloskeletal system

Subject of course

Nano- and ultrastructure of biological tissues and tissue components

Nanomechanics of unstructured biological tissue components: entropic elasticity

Nanomechanics of structured biological tissue components: collagen structure, self-assembly and mechanics

Description of the morphology, physiology and mechanical properties of bone, ligaments and tendons as well as cartilage.

Short review of vector and tensor algebra.

Linear continuum mechanics of hard tissues.

Introduction to nonlinear continuum mechanics soft and fluid-saturated biological tissues.
