Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • make decisions for a certain aircraft based on the common datasheets.
  • determine the necessary length of runway and allowed weight for a desired airfield.
  • quantify which minimum geographical and meteorological standards must be fitted for dedicated purposes.
  • decide if a firefighter station is needed and which legal requirements must be fitted.
  • keep noise and air pollution within the legal boundaries.

Subject of course

Properties of athmosphere and usage of air space. Coordinates of and forces as well as moments acting on aircraft. Types of aircraft. Introduction to assessment of performance under consideration of engine characteristics. Introduction to flight stability. FLight controls. Regulations for building and certification of aircraft.

Teaching methods

Lecture by talking based to relevant features, combined with projected pictures, printet sheets and drawings.
