Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.0
  • Credits: 1.5
  • Type: VO Lecture

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • use special theoretical and experimental methods for the analysis of energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions and local exhaust emissions from vehicle powertrains in real use.
  • provide information about the accuracy of the different methods.

Subject of course

Measurement and calculation methods for energy consumption and exhaust emissions of internal combustion engines. Chassis dynamometer and engine test beds. Measurement devices and in-situ exhaust sensors. Real-world measurement devices for all transport modes.

Teaching methods

In the framework of the lecture, environmental basics are introduced. The in-depth knowledge is based on the results of our own international research projects. The experimental and computational methods are discussed using practical examples.
