Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • illustrate the function of drive trains
  • conceptualize and design drive trains
  • optimize the operation of drive trains
  • construct drive trains

Subject of course

A basic overview of the area of powertrain for automotive is given in 13 chapters.

Teaching methods

The focus of the lecture lies on the furnishing of mechanical energy for the driving force of a motor vehicle. In this case, the drive comprises everything that is necessary in order to obtain the drive torque at the vehicle axle from the supplied energy source.

Examination modalities

PLEASE NOTE: All exams at our institute are to be taken in GERMAN!

Exams to this course take place (in writing) at the institute's monthly exam dates! 

If you are between the grades 1 and 2 or 4 and 5 after the written exam, there is the possibility of an additional oral exam, on the 2nd Friday following the exam at 10 a.m.

As all our written exams take place in parallel, registration for only one exam is permitted per exam date! Multiple registrations will not be tolerated! Failure to turn up to an exam to which the student has registered will result in an 8-week ban on the exam (in accordance with section 18a of the Statute on Study Law)! De-registrations after the registration deadline will not be considered!
