Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • evaluate the results of an emission measurement on the air-conditioned four-wheel dynamometer in accordance with legal requirements.
  • give an insight into the functionality of the test bench including measurement technology.

Subject of course

To maximize the transfer of knowledge, the laboratory exercise is held in small groups of 5 students. The laboratory exercise is carried out on the most modern climate all-wheel drive chassis dynamometer.
Contents are:

  • Explanation of the technical and physical background of the train resistance simulation at the roller test bench
  • Explanation of the measuring technique for the determination of gaseous emissions, current and voltage
  • Explanation of the measuring procedure ¿ carrying out of a driving cycle with a passenger car on the roller test bench
  • Calculation of the emissions and the fuel consumption
  • Writing of a protocol
