After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • explain the basics of laser technologies;
  • demonstrate their knowledge of the functions of technological lasers and laser systems;
  • describe and explain the most common laser-based manufacturing processes and independently develop similar content;
  • select equipment for the realization of automated laser technological processes, including systems technology and positioning systems;
  • justify the use of microprocessor systems taking into account the properties of automated laser processing devices;
  • independently select laser technology methods;
  • create control programs for laser cutting;
  • evaluate systems for laser cutting of materials;
  • choose process parameters and options for laser welding;
  • explain applications of laser beam methods for surface modification;
  • explain the principle of the surface modification process, the influence of process parameters on the track geometry as well as the beam shaping and its effect on the process result;
  • design methods of laser drilling, marking and engraving as well as to compare  method variants of laser drilling;
  • describe the process of ablation with a pulsed laser beam;
  • apply knowledges to solve problems in the field of laser technology;
  • independently analyze basic experiments on the topics of laser material processing;
  • participate in demanding physical experiments based on the main research areas of laser technology.

Cognitive and practical skills: The listeners should be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the many possible uses of the laser in manufacturing technology and be able to verbally justify its procedure.
