Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

 1. Professional and methodical skills

  • use methods of product management practice-oriented.
  • apply their knowledge of design theory on a project-specific basis.
  • plan the production management adapted to the production capabilities.
  • execute manufacturing tasks of the project independently.
  • develop their project management solution-oriented.
  • efficiently implement cost accounting.

2.Cognitive and practical skills

  • demonstrate the achievement of the stated goals by means of an integrative project with real implementation during the project work and justify their approach in an oral discussion and with presentations.

3. Social skills and self-competences

  • The students learn to organize a project team on their own responsibility.
  • They can communicate their ideas and discuss them with other students.
  • They present and justify their development results.

Subject of course

In self-responsible work, the students improve an existing product according to the given framework conditions (for example reduction of production costs, planned quantities, etc.). Starting with an analysis of the existing product, taking into account all manufacturing and assembly aspects, proposals for improvement measures are drawn up (for example, part reduction), the necessary new parts are designed, the manufacturing and assembly including all necessary equipment and tools has to be planned and the production documents created. If appropriate, functional patterns are produced by means of generative methods. The planning phase is completed with a calculation of the manufacturing costs. After that, the products are actually to be produced in the facilities of the TU learning factory (NC machines, assembly workstations) taking into account the quality characteristics. Finally they have to check the results of the planning (final costing).

Teaching methods

Discussion of the general course of the exercises, discussion of solutions with competent supervisors, introduction to the use and programming of the facilities of the TU Lernfabrik

Mode of examination

Immanent
