Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • understand the basics of FE modeling,
  • understand and analyze the models in the following physical disciplines as mechanics, heat conduction and coupled thermomechanical analysis
  • fully use of Abaqus / CAE (short for Complete Abaqus Environment)

Subject of course

Procedures for modeling and simulation in manufacturig technologies Possibilities and limits of modeling and simulation.

The course is orientated to the connection between the theory of numerical simulation and the practical usage of the FEM software with the focus on the practical tasks.

To get a clearer idea of simulation tasks, please have a look on "Nutshell.pdf", saved under Communication / Documents.

Teaching methods

The lessons are based on a common interactive solution of model examples. Each topic is  at the beginning explained theoretically.

Mode of examination

Written and oral
