Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  •   state the requirementsthe requirements for laser systems for precision processing
  • give a detailed description of excimer, solid-state and ultrashort pulse lasers
  • explain the differences between 2-, 3- and 4-level laser systems
  • carry out simple estimations of the removal rate for different materials
  • explain the basics of linear and nonlinear optics

Basics of micro- und nanostructuring with lasers:

short pulses in the nano-, pico- nad femtosecond region

Interaction between electromagnetic radiation and materials

beam delivery and shaping

applications of sub-µm structuring

tentative company visit(s)
