Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • describe the nature of physics, the objectives and employed methods and knowing how to apply them
  • explicate the meaning and benefits of physical units and how to use them to assess results
  • encompass and evaluate physical occurrences in terms of quality and quantity using the basic principles of classical physics and formulate statements regarding the procedures

Subject of course

  • Basic principles of classical physics
  • Main emphasis: Kinematics, dynamics, conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, Newton's laws, forces, acoustics, geometrical and wave optics, as well as thermodynamics
  • Prospects of modern physics, statisticial methods, Intenational System of Units, and manufacturing

Teaching methods

  • Systematic derivation of the theoretical principles in the lectures
  • Interspersed practical application of the scientific findings to illustrative examples
  • Related in advance query of students' estimates
  • Exercises for self-reliant practicing for each lecture section (solution for self- assessment provided in the following week)
