Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • describe essential tasks of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • understand master data management of  the above mentioned systems
  • explain processes for order processing
  • to explain the classification of PPS within industrial information systems
  • describe methods and interfaces for production data acquisition

Subject of course

  • tasks and functions of ERP systems
  • data basis of ERP systems
  • essential processes for order processing
  • tasks and functions of MES (according to VDI 5600 and DIN EN 62264)
  • machine interfaces (OPC UA, MQTT, MTConnect, etc.)

Teaching methods

Lectures will be used to introduce tasks and data basis of Production Planning and Control Systems and explain their application with scenario examples
