Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand long-term development and the (re)evolution of technology as the backbone of our civilisation, and the new personal role and responsibility of engineers in the future development of technology. 

Subject of course

Fundamentals of the philosophy of technology. Technology as the backbone of our civilisation. Main "technological" characteristics of man: intelligence, ability to think in tools, reaching of aims in active informational and/or mechanical interaction with the surrounding, use of language and letter. Product as materialisation of the idea. Focusing of selected key ideas, persons, and technical products in historical conection. Trends. Development scenarios of Technology. Man-Technology -Nature. Use and misuse of Technology. Ethics and Technology. Creative ideas in the front of technological time.
