Aim of course

The increasing use of aluminum and aluminum alloys in automobiles, aircrafts and a great variety of other products that we encounter in everyday life has created an increasing demand for experts in the field of aluminum.  The participants will learn the foundations of how to use physical metallurgy to understand different technical processes for aluminum alloys from casting to the final products.

Uptodate knowledge and focus on relevant topics to contribute in the emerging field of Aluminum Modeling is one of our core missions in the ¿Aluminum Modeling Group" in Vienna - which we seek to convey to young engineers and scientists.

Subject of course

  • Introduction to Aluminum
  • Physical Metallurgy and the Effect of Alloying Additions in Aluminum Alloys
  • Recrystallization and Grain Growth
  • Metallurgy of heat treatment and general principles of precipitation hardening
  • Ingot casting and casthouse metallurgy of aluminum and its alloys
  • Rolling of Aluminum, Extrusion, Forging and Aluminum Welding
  • Introduction to modeling the kinetics of precipitation and strengthening in Aluminum alloys
