After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the domains of wrought and cast aluminum alloys, their applications and limits of their use.
Using physical metallurgy, students will be able to analyze the effects of alloying additions, the key parameters involved in the casting and solidification of cast alloys, and the mechanisms that occur during deformation in the manufacturing process of various Al-wrought alloys. In addition, they get an overview of aluminum failure mechanisms such as corrosion and fatigue.
The acquired knowledge provides students a good foundation for working in the aluminum industries or for research in the fields related to aluminum alloys.
Different case studies will be analyse and discussed.
