Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe application-related load scenarios by basic material parameters and hence to select materials based on this requirement profile as well as to select the suitable shaping process.

Subject of course

Functional requirements have to be translated into material preformance and property data of engieering materials; Combinations of service requirements are expressed by performance parameters; material selection requires selection of shaping process; Case studies with application of Cambridge Materials and Process Selectors

Teaching methods

 Application of basic knowledge in the field of materials science, as well as the use of Cambridge Material and Process Selectors to perform a materials selection.
