Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

to apply independently basic metallographic characterization techniques for evaluating structure-property relationships (e.g. grinding preparation, microstructure and fracture assessment).

Subject of course

Selected examples of treatment of metals, methods of testing, defect characterisation.

Teaching methods

Various grinding and polishing techniques, as well as a basic usage of light-microscopy.

Additional information

Can be executed in English, Spanish or German. Registration at the preliminary meeting at the beginning of each semester, exceptionally as well during the semester by contacting the assistents. Special literature will be stated during the experiments. http://wwwt.tuwien.ac.at/
