After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

to apply independently basic metallographic characterization techniques for evaluating structure-property relationships (e.g. grinding preparation, microstructure and fracture assessment).

Subject of course

Selected examples of treatment of metals, methods of testing, defect characterisation.

Teaching methods

Various grinding and polishing techniques, as well as a basic usage of light-microscopy.
