Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to systematically investigate the source of materials failure and which loading conditions have lead to a specific failure mode. The student are capable of relating the characteristics of a fracture surface to the cause of the materials failure.

Jede Übungsgruppe behandelt einen idividuellen Schadensgegenstand. Die Teilnehmer sind dazu aufgerüfen, wenn sie Zugang zu einem Schadensteil haben, dieses zur Übungs mitzubringen. Es sollte sich um eine metallisches Bauteil mit Riss oder Bruchfläche handeln und nicht allzu groß sein (zB Bauteilquerschnitt kleiner ca d=50mm, l=500mm, oder in äquivalenter Größe). Eine Entscheidung ob dieses mitgebrachte Bauteil während der Übungseinheiten untersucht werden kann, wird nach der Erstsichtung entschieden. Sie können auch Bilder des Schadensteiles per Email an -      christian.zaruba@tuwien.ac.at    - senden.
