Aim of course

Teaching of the basics of research, development and calculation of transmissions for aviation. Typical transmission are presented. The contents of the course are applicable to other fields of application (e.g. automotive transmission, transmissions for railcars).

Subject of course

Bevel gears, planetary gears, materials for gears and housings, ball and roller bearings for high speed applications, shafts with multiple bearings, freewheel clutches and sealings, lubrication and lubricants, legislative rules for design and development of transmissions for aviation, HUMS (Health and Usage Monitoring System), typcial transmissions (helicopter, auxiliary power units, flap and slat actuators, engine gearboxes, Geared Turbofan (GTF), tiltrotor-/tiltwing applications.
