Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and assess the running capability, the system behavior and the structure of rail vehicles by solving arithmetic problems. The students can apply analytical methods, which have been introduced in the course 307.441, and solve practical problems.

Subject of course

Important topics of rail vehicle engineering (in connection with the course 307.441) will be applied to practical situations by using analytical and computer tools and techniques.

Vehicle dynamics, running stability, ride comfort, derailment safety, rail vehicle aerodynamics, vehicle longitudinal dynamics, crashworthiness,  braking calculation, traction assessment, air conditioning, structural stress and strain calculation
