Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to perform an environmental assessment of products in order to reduce the environmental impact and in order to derive ideas and concepts to environmetally improve the product. The lecture focuses on methods and concrete application in products.

Subject of course

For teaching and practical implementation the method ECODESIGN PILOT will be used (http://pilot.ecodesign.at/). This tool will be used in case studies to deepen the understanding what is ECODESIGN all about and how to integrate it into the daily life of a designer or engineer in product development.

Environmental management - Life cycle assessment - Principles and framework (ISO 14040:2006)

Greenhouse gases - Carbon footprint of products - Requirements and guidelines for quantification (ISO 14067:2018)
