Aim of course
Introduction into elements of fluid mechanics which are important for the understanding of biological systems.
Subject of course
Introduction. Governing equations for unsteady, incompressible, viscous flows. Viscosity of fluids and suspensions. Rheological properties of blood. Laminar pipe flow - newtonian fluid, Bingham fluid. Flow in cuved ducts. Entry flow in straight and curved ducts. Pulsating laminar flow. Peristaltic flows. Wave propagation processes in blood vessels. Sedimentation.
