Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to give detailed statements to different methods of energy conversion, energy supply and energy storage. Additional statements to carbon capture methods can be given.

Subject of course

Use of biomass for energy supply

Geothermal and geothermic production of electricity, e.g. Flash process, Kalina process, Organic Rankine cycle (ORC), ...

Overview about the advanced power plant technology for the future use of fossil fuels (CCS = Carbon Capture and Storage, Polygeneration, etc.).

Overview and capability of non-thermal regenerative technologies, e.g. wind power, etc.

Storage of energy, e.g. thermal-, mechanical energy storage concepts

Solar technology for heating, cooling and production of electricity

Technologies for the production and use of solar hydrogen (includes the application in fuel cell plants)

Overview of solar energy transformation technologies

Teaching methods
