Aim of course

After a positive completion of the lecture the students can differ and compare important  technolgies as well as the technical and natural science, espesially thermodynamics, concepts behind them. The studentds have studied in detail the state of the art and new development concepts.

The potential, the field of application as well as the boundary of energy transformation and storage technologies can be rated by the students.

Subject of course

Use of biomass for energy supply

Geothermal and geothermic production of electricity, e.g. Flash process, Kalina process, Organic Rankine cycle (ORC), ...

Overview about the advanced power plant technology for the future use of fossil fuels (CCS = Carbon Capture and Storage, Polygeneration, etc.).

Overview and capability of non-thermal regenerative technologies, e.g. wind power, etc.

Storage of energy, e.g. thermal-, mechanical energy storage concepts

Solar technology for heating, cooling and production of electricity

Technologies for the production and use of solar hydrogen (includes the application in fuel cell plants)

Overview of solar energy transformation technologies
