Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • Perform heat load calculations according to standard and thermal simulations of building parts and evaluate the results
  • discuss and compare different systems for the energy supply of buildings
  • outline the physical, legal and financial framework for building services systems
  • find and apply relevant standards and verification procedures
  • Conduct critical discussions with experts about building services

Subject of course

Contents of the course:

  • Meterological basics, thermal comfort
  • Distribution and delivery systems
  • Energy converters (solar thermal systems, geothermal plants, chillers, heat recovery)
  • System examples, innovative system configurations
  • Calculation method (hydronic adjustment, heating load calculation)
  • Control, automation, energy management
  • Verification method, life cycle analysis, energy contracting

In the practical part, a calculation/simulation exercise in group work will be carried out.
