After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the basic concepts and application possibilities of modern machine diagnostic systems in relation to hydraulic machines. They learn that individual maintenance planning in the spirit of hydropower 4.0 is possible on the basis of the large number of assessed diagnostic signals.
Maintenance strategies, terms of maintenance, but also the condition assessment of older plants and their components are an integral part of this course. The aim is to provide the student with a basis for the topic "Operation, maintenance and repair of hydraulic machines".
Within the past two decades owners Hydropower Plant optimization program leeded to a more and more automated operation of each single unit. Therefore it is of increasingly importance to have the status and functionality of each unit continously available. According to this a considerable number of installed units have been either totally or partly upgraded with diagnostic systems. This modern technology doesn't check only the status of a unit but could also deliver a hugh number of data as a basis for an individual maintenance plan. Older units are either totally or partly upgraded with such diagnostic systems or will be maintained and refurbished after given time interval.
Main topic of this lecture is on the one hand the thematic of used diagnostic systems, measurement equipment and data interpretation possibilities relating to Hydraulic machinery and on the other hand repair, maintenance and refurbishment strategies and possibilities. And of course onventional maintenance strategies and condition monitoring systems are part of the lecture.
Frontal teaching including practical examples
oral examination
Students are expected to have theoretical knowledge in all areas of mechanical engineering.
