Aim of course

The students should get familiar with the practical application of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and mechanics to the design and development of thermal turbomachines and their performance and control.

Subject of course

Practical application of calculation examples on the following topics: Energy exchange and efficiencies. Preliminary thermal design of various types of thermal turbomachines. Stage characteristics. 2D and 3D flow in turbomachines. Loss mechanisms. Performance and control of turbines and compressors.
