  • Format: Hybrid

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • calculate energy conversions in hydraulic fluid-flow machinery (turbines, pumps, pump turbines) based on velocity triangles
  • analyse hydraulic machinery and plants in stationary and transient operation

Subject of course

Overview of the basic functions and designs of hydraulic flow machines and plants - fluid properties and specifics - model laws and key figures - hydraulic design of the individual turbine, pump and pumpturbine types - energy conversion and efficiency - design of hydraulic flow machines - cavitation - operating behaviour and control of turbines and pumps - transient flows - revitalisation and modernisation of old plants.

Teaching methods

In addition to frontal teaching, interactive case studies are calculated with the students.
