This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2020W, VU, 2.0h, 2.0EC, to be held in blocked form

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 2.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise
  • Format: Distance Learning

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • To better understand the theoretical basics of thermal energy plants.
  • Use modern tools for numerical simulation of plants.
  • Independent simulation of energy systems.
  • Findings about working methods, construction, operating characteristics and control characteristics.

Subject of course

Types of thermal power plants Numerical methods for process simulation Modelling Performing of the simulation and documentation of the results Interpretation of the results

Teaching methods

The aim of the course is to provide students a better understanding of the theoretical fundamentals of thermal energy plants and to use modern tools for numerical simulation of these plants. Two main numerical simulation programs such as IPSEpro and KED will be presented and applied. The process simulation with the two programs enables the investigation of processes as realistic as possible for different operating conditions.
