Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • apply generalized equations of state for multiple component systems
  • determine conditions for thermodynamic equilibrium in multiple component systems
  • determine conditions for chemical equilibrium of reacting systems
  • determine reaction rates for selected reactions
  • describe thermal separation processes
  • analyse important energetic processes (gasification, thermal separation processes, CCS, air separation, IGCC, Kraft-Process, ETES, LAES)

Subject of course

Basics of complex thermodynamic methods and processes which are relevant in Energy Technology.

Two component-Thermodynamics,

gasification, gas turbine cycles,

low temperature thermodynamics, 

thermal separation processes.
