Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VO Lecture
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • To select suitable solution methods for a wide variety of thermal engineering problems
  • To set up the necessary algebraic and differential equations for the description of simple thermo-technical problems
  • Develop strategies for the numerical solution of thermo-technical problems

Subject of course

In thermal engineering often problems occur which can be solved only using numerical methods. In this lectrue

  • the modelling of different problems is discussed,
  • the most important numerical algorithms are presented and the suitability for the different cases is discussed,
  • it is shown how simple as well as coupled non-linear differential equations have to be treated to get a numerical algorithm.
