After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve partial differential equations describing fluid mechanics and heat transfer with appropriate numerical methods. They understand the strengths, weaknesses and limits of applicability of these methods.
Overview on the differential equations governing fluid dynamics and convective heat transfer. Discretization methods, convergence, stability, stationary solution algorithms, time integration. Modelling of fluid flow and heat transport. Data analysis and evaluation of numerical solutions.
Explanation of the theoretical foundations.
Written examination
