## Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

• to understand and apply methods of analytical mechanics
• to judge the stability of solutions
• to apply the theory of elasticity to straight rods
• to compute appromiate solutions of simple problems of mechanics of solids

## Subject of course

d'Alembert's principle, Lagrange's equations, 3-dimensional continuum (strain tensor, stress tensor, constitutive equations), linearised elasticity theory, curved rods, energy methods, approximation methods, stability of equilibria and motions

## Teaching methods

Lecture (beamer + blackboard) and discussion of the theoretical basics, claculation of simple example problems

## Examination modalities

Written and oral examination dates will be posted on TISS.

Positive result of the written examination is mandatory for subsequent appointment for the oral one. In case of a negative oral examination result, the written part must be repeated.

Students, who obtained the note "3" or better for the Mechanik 3 Exercise, are exempt from the written examination for the first trial, which needs to take place within 1 year.

The collection of relevant formulas, which is provided by the Institute, may be used during the examinations.
