Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.5
  • Credits: 1.5
  • Type: PR Project
  • Format: Presence

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • realize a project from the first concept development phase to the finished prototype
  • design technical components for additive manufacturing processes

In this course, students learn how to complete a complete project together with a team. The project covers all the necessary steps for the manufacture of a remote-controlled robot, from initial planning, through material orders to the production of the final product.

Subject of course

In the concept-finding phase, students have to research which types of robots have already been built and which concept they think is promising.
Subsequently, the necessary components must be designed and purchased.
This requires a combination of mechanical engineering, materials science and electrical engineering.
After the competition with the other teams, the designed robot should be critically evaluated in order to describe the respective advantages and disadvantages of the chosen design.

Teaching methods

  • discussion of the general procedure (Vorbesprechung)
  • weekly appointments to support students during the development and construction process
  • gain critical reflection and knowledge of your own product (by participating in the competition)
  • instructions for drawing up the protocol

Mode of examination

Immanent
