Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  1. independently analyze and evaluate the various aspects of land use by transportation systems,
  2. utilize current data and facts to investigate the spatial impacts of different transportation infrastructures and modes,
  3. apply innovative calculation methods and critically interpret their results,
  4. present findings interactively and dynamically, and professionally display their work,
  5. develop sustainable and efficient concepts to minimize land use,
  6. discuss and identify best practices with professionals from urban and transportation planning,
  7. conduct practice-oriented projects in group work and independently develop solutions for land optimization in urban and rural areas,
  8. present and defend their results before a scientific standardization committee.

Subject of course

In this project, participants independently explore the diverse aspects of land use by transportation systems. They analyze the spatial impacts of various transportation infrastructures and modes using current data and facts.

In addition to attempting a precise definition, they apply and test innovative calculation methods to assess the land use of different transportation systems or their components. It is also essential to present and illustrate the findings interactively and dynamically.

They discuss sustainable and efficient concepts to minimize land use with urban and transportation planning professionals and identify best practices.

Through group work and practice-oriented projects, they independently develop sustainable and efficient solutions for land optimization in urban and rural areas.

This seminar is aimed at urban planning students who want to acquire and deepen practical knowledge in this central area.

Ideally, you will present your results to a scientific standardization committee.
