After successful completion of the course, students are able to comprehend the procedures, the motivations for organizers and participants as well as the similarities and differences of conferences. They understand how to proceed as a participant at a conference, how it is possible to hold a lecture there and how to produce one's own publication. Within the framework of the course, the students will attend the international conference REAL CORP 2022, which will take place from November 14 to November 16, 2022 at the AirportCity Space in Schwechat. Examination modalities

  • Participation in the kick-off (October 21, 2022, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.) and the closing event (January 20, 2023, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.)
  • Analysis of 3 to 5 specialist articles on the subject of spatial planning / urban development, preferably from the program of the REAL CORP 2022 conference (available online) or other thematically related conferences, written reflection
  • Presentation of the results (analyzed articles, conclusions) at the closing event in January 2023
  • Participation in the international conference REAL CORP 2022, AirportCity Space Schwechat, 14-16 November 2022

Explanation of "Paper Analysis"

Analysis of 3 self-selected, online available specialist articles on the subject of spatial planning / urban development (incl. "related disciplines"), preferably from the program of the REAL CORP 2022 conference, all of which are available online via www.corp.at; contributions from other conferences are also possible. If you are unable to attend REAL CORP 2022, the number of papers to be analyzed will increase to 5.

  • 2-3 pages per article analysis of what is particularly interesting, what is incomprehensible, and why an article is particularly good or not particularly good; whether the topic is relevant, whether the article is understandable, clearly structured, helpful for further activities
  • overview of the selected articles: How would you cite the respective articles if you wrote a scientific contribution yourself? Indication of author (s), title of the article, published where / when / in (publisher; ISBN-No .; possibly additional information (Open…)), link to the online version
  • reason why these articles were chosen: technically interesting; Points of contact with one's own main areas of interest or topics that are currently being worked on; Title sounds exciting; Author (s) known (personally or as recognized experts); spatial reference; "Familiar / exotic" (constructive criticism is very welcome, but it is not about "ripping the article to pieces")

Submission of the results by January 07, 2023 at the latest by email to manfred.schrenk@gmail.com (please state LVA 280.A12 in the subject)
