After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • Engage with strategies and projects on forms of urban-regional and metropolitan development in the global (North-South) context

  • Understand how cities cope with challenges of sustainability, smartness and resilience triggered by urban growth from a global perspective

  • understanding of forms of sustainable, smart and resilient development for metropoles from a multiscalar perspective

Subject of course

  • Discussion of most recent challenges and of strategic approaches of resilient and sustainable urban development in large agglomerations
  • critical reflection of planning approaches or of projects in large agglomerations on the background of global challenges 
  • elaboration of own ideas and proposals strengthening resilient and smart development on the example of a distinct city or an urban neighbourhood

10%: elaboration of workplan for own poster

40%: elaboration of a poster well-strucered through the definition of challenges and own proposals for strenghtening resilient and urban developmnt of a city or an urban neighbourhood

30% presentation of the poster by groups of 3 students
