"Integral Natural Hazard Management", master students will be able to figure out the connections between handling of natural hazards and spatial planning control options in theory and practice, to analyse conflicts in planning instruments and natural hazards in their various dimensions and to develop interdisciplinary solutions in natural hazard management.
Project between P2 and diploma thesis
This year's master's project follows on from various previous projects with its focus on natural hazard management, but increasingly brings aspects of climate change into the discussion.
In the first - theoretical - part, the technical background of integral natural hazard management will be dealt with at the beginning of the winter semester 2022. The current literature, the legal and technical basics as well as the current status of the discussions on natural hazard management and in particular the role of spatial planning measures will be worked on. The students work in small groups on selected (and self-selected) topics.
In the second practical part, the actual planning challenges and the practical feasibility of proposed spatial planning solutions are examined on the basis of a selected regions. An excursion to the planning area will take place in autumn 2022, including meetings with regional and local decision-makers. In a final report, the theoretical considerations will be combined with practical experience and corresponding conclusions and proposed solutions will be derived.

Der Leistungsnachweis erfolgt durch die Teilnahme an den LVA-Veranstaltungen (insb. der Exkursion) und einem Endbericht der einzelnen Kleingruppen.
