The planning, Organization and implementation of a children’s city require the joined forces of many different actors: Politics, the economy, culture and media as well as neighbours and of course children are incorporated over a longer period of time. Juggling between opinions, ideas, visions and wished leads to a variety of perceptions regarding the children’s city and its impacts. With the Course “Spielstadt: Räume aneignen” we plan to look at these different perspectives and their actors: What is a children’s city? What are its impacts? Who represents which positions and why? Which forms of spatial appropriations take place in the Children’s city? And finally: Which qualities encompass the ephemeral and improvised character of the project? The block seminar invites you to join a playful approach of looking at these questions, by simulating various actors and their positions. Short presentations, discussions, interview. etc. will enable this simulation as we look closer into the opinions, backgrounds and perspective of the different actors and their arguments. The seminar gives insight into the structures of a city, in its decision-making processes and project work in (semi-)public spaces. We are excited to meet all interested participants - the course is open for all disciplines. The seminar is held together with Anna Pech and Moritz Matschke (both Verein AREAL Wien).
Input by experts and discussions, urbodrome game and soziometric arrangements, theory and literature work, conversation techniques and interviews, mapping, practical work with various materials (wood, paper, fabric)
