We spatial planners are the lobbyists of space. We claim the right to plan for a better future. The question for whom or in which form this improvement is realized is rarely addressed. On the contrary, our space is full of conflicts and the demands for space are wide ranging. During the seminar, own planning projects will be reflected and common (value) positions will be elaborated in order to be able to argue, comment and reflect on the complexity of development – from the global to the local scale.
Through collaborative discussions aimed at reflecting and interpreting the values of the different actors in spatial planning, the challenges for the profession will be explored and analyzed. After this interdisciplinary and theoretical discourse (based on own projects), a collective canon of values will be developed. This will provide the basis for reflecting on one's own actions in space.
Self-determined and self-organized learning, research (literature, projects, media), lectures, discussion, fishbowl and value workshop.
The course is eligible for credit as a supplementary course in all elective modules.
The course content can be focused depending on the respective elective module and the students' interests. The thematic bracket - ethics ofplanning - offers the possibility to look at all focal topics from new perspectives.
Orally (active participation in the seminar) and in written form (canon of values, reflection matrix and visualization of value systems).
